Using the Partition Editor

The file manager (Nautilus) currently does not support renaming disk partitions, but Gnome's Partition Editor (GParted) does. To change a partition's label, follow these directions. (Be careful using Partition Editor, as it's capable of making your computer completely unusable if you do the wrong thing.)

Open the System > Administration menu and see if there's an entry for GParted (previously Partition Editor).
If there is, launch it. If there isn't, install the "gparted" package and it should now appear in the menu. Enter your password when prompted.
Disk drives are divided up into partitions. To find the partition you want to re-label, you first have to find the disk drive that contains it, using the drop-down menu in the upper right. It will show a device name like /dev/sdb and the drive's total size in parentheses. After selecting a drive, you will see a list of all partitions on that drive.
If the partition is mounted (has a key icon next to it), right-click on the partition and select Unmount.
With the key icon gone, right-click on the partition and select Label. If you can't select it, install the ntfsprogs package.
Enter the new partition name and press Ok.
The label change is now pending, but has not been completed. Press the Apply button near the top of the window. After confirming, it should say "All operations successfully completed". The drive now has a new label.

These are the steps I used to install the Java JDK binary,Externally on my System which ain't have Internet.

1.Dowload the latest Java JDK for Linux Platform (in my case,jdk-6u22-linux-i586.bin) from the Sun Java site.Using any System Which Have Internet.

(you can also use jdk-6u3-linux-i586.bin and many other versions)

[*Note:Do not download ".rpm" version of jdk(like jdk-6u22-linux-i586-rpm.bin)]

2.In Terminal Change directory to /usr/local/lib [using comand $cd /usr/local/lib]

3.From there extract the JRE or JDK archive file you downloaded:

$ sudo sh /some/path/jdk-6u3-linux-i586.bin

[In the above commands, replace /some/path with where the JRE/JDK .bin resides and of course replace the filename with what it actually is in your case.]

(In my case: $sudo sh /home/Kishor/Downloads/jdk-6u22-linux-i586.bin)

4.Now Lets create some symlinks so that the executables can be run easily:
Change directory to /usr/local/bin [$ cd /usr/local/bin]

From there execute the following set of commands:

$ sudo ln -sf ../lib/jdk1.6.0_22/bin/* .

[Please Pay attention to the "dot(.)" at the end of the command, it is required and IMPORTENT.
And adjust the directory as well to what you have (e.g. jdk1.6.0_03 in folder /usr/local/lib)
(in mycase it is: jdk1.6.0_22/bin)]

5.Verify installation

To verify that the installation was successful, execute

$ java -version

The output should look something like this if everything is well

java version "1.6.0_22"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_22-b04)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 17.1-b03, mixed mode, sharing)

6. Now you can Execute Java Programs From any directory from your system,here is a small example of mine:

He can make it know to whole world and people can then decide whats right and whats wrong. And hence that is old and impractical gets replaced new ideas which are better. Do not use the packages in Ubuntu's universe. They are unmaintained and out of date. That means you'll be missing stability and security fixes.
You'll need to set up our package repository before you can fetch Tor. First, you need to figure out the name of your distribution. Here's a quick mapping:

Ubuntu 10.10 is "maverick" but use the "lucid" packages for now
Ubuntu 10.04 or Trisquel 4.0 is "lucid"
Ubuntu 9.10 or Trisquel 3.5 is "karmic"
Ubuntu 9.04 is "jaunty"
Ubuntu 8.10 is "intrepid"
Ubuntu 8.04 is "hardy"
Debian Etch is "etch"
Debian Lenny is "lenny"

Then add this line to your /etc/apt/sources.list file:

deb     http://deb.torproject.org/torproject.org <DISTRIBUTION> main

where you put the codename of your distribution (i.e. etch, lenny, sid, lucid, karmic, jaunty, intrepid, hardy or whatever it is) in place of <DISTRIBUTION>. Then add the gpg key used to sign the packages by running the following commands at your command prompt:

Now Tor is installed and running. Move on to step two of the "Tor on Linux/Unix" instructions.

Step Two: Install Polipo for Web Browsing

After installing Tor, you need to configure your applications to use it.
The first step is to set up web browsing. Start by installing Polipo from your favorite repository. Polipo is a caching web proxy that does http pipelining well, so it's well-suited for Tor's latencies. Make sure to get at least Polipo 1.0.4, since earlier versions lack the SOCKS support required to use Polipo with Tor. You should uninstall privoxy at this point (e.g. apt-get remove privoxy or yum remove privoxy), so they don't conflict.
Once you've installed Polipo (either from package or from source), you will need to configure Polipo to use Tor. Grab our Polipo configuration for Tor and put it in place of your current polipo config file (e.g. /etc/polipo/config or ~/.polipo). You'll need to restart Polipo for the changes to take effect. For example:
/etc/init.d/polipo restart
If you prefer, you can instead use Privoxy with this sample Privoxy configuration. But since the config files both use port 8118, you shouldn't run both Polipo and Privoxy at the same time.

Step Three: Configure your applications to use Tor

After installing Tor and Polipo, you need to configure your applications to use them. The first step is to set up web browsing.
You should use Tor with Firefox and Torbutton, for best safety. Simply install the Torbutton plugin, restart your Firefox, and you're all set:

If you plan to run Firefox on a different computer than Tor, see the FAQ entry for running Tor on a different computer.
To Torify other applications that support HTTP proxies, just point them at Polipo (that is, localhost port 8118). To use SOCKS directly (for instant messaging, Jabber, IRC, etc), you can point your application directly at Tor (localhost port 9050), but see this FAQ entry for why this may be dangerous. For applications that support neither SOCKS nor HTTP, take a look at tsocks or socat.
For information on how to Torify other applications, check out the Torify HOWTO.

Step Four: Make sure it's working

Next, you should try using your browser with Tor and make sure that your IP address is being anonymized. Click on the Tor detector and see whether it thinks you're using Tor or not. (If that site is down, see this FAQ entry for more suggestions on how to test your Tor.)
If you have a personal firewall that limits your computer's ability to connect to itself (this includes something like SELinux on Fedora Core 4), be sure to allow connections from your local applications to Polipo (local port 8118) and Tor (local port 9050). If your firewall blocks outgoing connections, punch a hole so it can connect to at least TCP ports 80 and 443, and then see this FAQ entry. If your SELinux config is not allowing tor or privoxy to run correctly, create a file named booleans.local in the directory /etc/selinux/targeted. Edit this file in your favorite text editor and insert "allow_ypbind=1". Restart your machine for this change to take effect.

Command Line ntpdate

Ubuntu comes with ntpdate as standard, and will run it once at boot time to set up your time according to Ubuntu's NTP server. However, a system's clock is likely to drift considerably between reboots if the time between reboots is long. In that case it makes sense to correct the time occasionally. The easiest way to do this is to get cron to run it every day. With your favorite editor, create a file /etc/cron.daily/ntpdate containing:

 sudo ntpdate ntp.ubuntu.com

Make sure that you make this new file executable:

 sudo chmod 755 /etc/cron.daily/ntpdate

You can stop ntpd by executing:

sudo /etc/init.d/ntp stop

Then set the system clock:

First lets grab some essential building libraries via the terminal: Applications->Accessories->Terminal

Now lets Install xwinwrap:
